As an indispensable cleaning product in modern life, wet wipes seem to have a simple structure, but in fact they integrate knowledge from multiple fields such as materials science, microbiology and environmental protection technology. Understanding the internal structure of wet wipes not only helps consumers choose products reasonably, but also provides technical references for foreign trade practitioners.

The basic structure of wet wipes is usually divided into three layers: surface layer, absorption layer and packaging layer. The surface layer directly contacts the skin or the surface of the object, and is generally made of non-woven fabrics, such as spunlace or spunbond. Spunlace is soft and skin-friendly, suitable for baby wipes; spunbond is more durable and is often used for industrial cleaning wipes. The design of this layer needs to balance breathability, strength and touch to meet the needs of different scenarios.

The absorption layer of the middle layer is the core of the wet wipes, which is composed of fiber matrix and polymer absorbent material (such as SAP). The addition of absorbent materials enables the wet wipes to lock in sufficient liquid while maintaining a refreshing feeling when wiping. Some high-end wipes also contain moisturizers (such as glycerin) or bactericidal ingredients (such as alcohol and benzalkonium chloride), but the proportion of these additives must be strictly controlled to avoid irritating the skin or damaging the environment.

The outermost packaging design directly affects the shelf life and usage experience of wet wipes. Composite aluminum foil bags can effectively block oxygen and moisture, extending the shelf life of the product; while clamshell packaging is convenient for single use and reduces waste. In recent years, the research and development of degradable packaging materials has become a hot topic in the industry. For example, the application of corn starch-based films can significantly reduce plastic pollution.

From an industry perspective, the innovation of wet wipes structure is moving towards functional segmentation and sustainability. For example, kitchen wipes enhance the ability to remove oil stains, while environmentally friendly wipes use a flushable formula. For foreign trade companies, mastering these technological trends will help accurately match market demand and enhance product competitiveness.
